UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at San Pietro FBF, the Advanced Radiotherapy Center in Rome, is getting ready for its second JCI survey.
The Center, inaugurated in January 2013, was accredited by JCI for the first time on July 6th, 2017. The JCI is the recognized leader in international health care accreditation and is considered the gold standard in global health care. Its accreditation process focuses on determining whether a health care facility has the right systems and processes in place to support high-quality and safe patient care, and has the culture and capacity to continuously improve care. JCI’s surveyors examine crucial issues such as patient and family education, access to care and medication management.
JCI re-accreditation is needed after 3 years and will likely happen in early summer 2020. In preparation for this important appointment, the Center recently hosted a mock survey with JCI consultants who spent two full days at the Center, simulating the real survey sessions and site inspections, reviewing data and checking the Center’s compliance to the many JCI standards. UPMC Hillman Cancer Center at San Pietro FBF will be the first outpatient facility to be (re-)accredited according to JCI new ambulatory standards released in July 2019.
